Explore the works of Salvador Dali at this incredible destination in nearby St. Petersburg. It is located at 1 Dali Boulevard and is open daily from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Tickets cost $25 for adults, $18 for teens, and $10 for children.
3. Florida Maritime Museum
Learn about the maritime history of the area at 4415 119th Street West in nearby Cortez. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., and admissions are free, but donations are appreciated.
Florida Railroad Museum
Get a unique perspective on the railroad history of Florida at 12210 83rd Street East in Parrish. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission costs $14 for adults and $10 for children.
4. Gamble Plantation Historic State Park
This stately antebellum plantation home has been preserved and restored to give you a unique look into the area’s history. It is located in Ellenton on US 301 South. They’re open daily from 8 a.m. until sunset, and there is no entrance fee.
5. Island Gallery West
Browse the works of more than 30 local artists at Island Gallery West, located in the heart of Anna Maria Island at 5368 Gulf Drive in Holmes Beach. They are open daily from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Sarasota Classic Car Museum, Inc.
Be sure to stop by the second oldest continuously operating antique car museum in the nation at 5500 North Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. They are open daily from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
6. Manatee County Agricultural Museum
This museum gives locals and visitors a unique perspective on the agricultural history of Florida. Visit them at 1015 6th Street West in Palmetto. They are open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
7. Manatee Village Historical Park
This open-air museum invites you to learn about Manatee County’s founding period from 1840 until 1918. They’re located at 1404 Manatee Avenue East in Bradenton. They are open Monday through Friday and the second and fourth Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is free, though donations are welcome.
8. Museum of Science and Industry
This destination in nearby Tampa is perfect for learning about how science and industry have shaped our lives. They’re located at 4801 East Fowler Avenue and are open daily from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Admission costs $12.95 for adults and $7.95 for children.
9. Palmetto Historical Park
Learn about the heritage of Palmetto at this vibrant museum, located at 515 10th Avenue West. They are open Tuesday through Friday and the first and third Saturday of the month, and their hours are 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
10. Powel Crosley Estate Museum
This stunning estate will take you back in time and is the perfect place to hold a special event. They are located at 8374 North Tamiami Trail in Sarasota.
11. Ringling Museum of Art
Don’t miss out on the state art museum of Florida, located at 5401 Bayshore Road in Sarasota. They’re open daily from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., and hours are extended until 8 p.m. on Thursdays.
12. South Florida Science Center and Aquarium
